During my recent site visits I am noticing the lack of water for people to drink.
As you are aware we have been having some extremely hot weather during July and August and the sites have been struggling with their welfare.
As a minimum welfare should be:
- Drinkable water
- Clean toilets for female and male
- Cool areas for resting
- Areas for wet clothing
- Eating and drinking facilities
- Waste facilities
I have recently attended a site and they had the windows screwed down so the heat was terrible. The same site had 1 water cooler with 15 floors and over 200 contractors working on site – so as you can imagine the bottle was being changed every hour. During the meeting I attended they agreed to have 1 installed on each floor!!
As you know if you provide the correct facilities to enable them to carry out their work well you will have happy staff and they will be fit and well and be able to carry out their work quicker and easier.
